How to create Win98 bootable usb

There will be times you may need to create a Bootable DOS USB Drive. For example to upgrade a motherboard BIOS.
1. First you will need to download a couple of files that you will need to make this work.
2. Download the 98boot file first use this link
3. Next you need to Download the utility from HP to make this happen. Use this link
4. Extract both .zip files to a location. Best to create a folder for the Win98 file as there’s quite a few files.
5. Insert a USB pen in to a USB slot – Don’t use one that has information on that you need as it’s going to get formatted.
6. Run the HP USB Utility that you downloaded in step 3. Should appear the same as in step 7.
7. Choose the USB drive to use from the drop down menu at the top if you have multiple USB drives connected and the file system needs to be FAT32.

8. Then in “Format Options” choose “Create DOS startup disk” and browse to the folder where you extracted the Win98 files. Just highlight the folder they’re in then click OK.

9. Click “Start” and it will format the drive and once it’s finished it will then be bootable.
That’s it your USB Drive is now bootable into DOS. You can now copy the files to it you need to use in DOS.
