Cashing Smartphone Apps

iBotta. Using iBotta, You pick the products you are going to buy on your next shopping trip and earn money by completing small tasks associated with those products. Tasks include earning $0.50 for answering one question about the product, or earn $0.25 for reading one fact about the product. Also, you can often score $1.25 for posting the product to your Facebook page. Next, you'll go do your shopping at one of the 35 participating national retailers, and verify your purchase by snapping a photo of your items, along with the corresponding barcode. iBotta then adds money to your account which you can withdraw via PayPal or donate to any school in the United States. (Available on iPhone and Android)
Receipt Hog. The Receipt Hog app is similar to the iBotta app but simpler to use. Essentially, it rewards you for snapping pictures of your grocery store receipts from your smartphone, as well as taking surveys on your shopping experience. You earn "coins," which you can redeem for cash ordonate to the charity of your choice. Does it sound too good to be true? It's not, as the folks behind Receipt Hog make money by sharing gathered information with consumer brands. Your personal information stays anonymous and is not sold to third parties. (Available on iPhone and Android)
Saving Star. The Saving Star app lets you link your grocery store loyalty cards and collect your savings automatically. Once you have downloaded the app, select the eCoupons you want to take advantage of. When shopping, you'll use your loyalty card like you normally would, then the savings you collect is added to your Saving Star account. Once your account reaches the $5 minimum threshold, you can choose your payout option, which includes PayPal, bank deposit, or Amazon.com gift card. (Available on iPhone and Android)
iPinion. The iPinion app lets you earn points for participating in surveys on your mobile device. Survey topics include things such as movies, technology, and specific research panels. A hundred points earned translates into $1. Some surveys are good for up to 450 points. Points can be redeemed for cash or specific store gift cards. (Available on iPhone and Android)
GigWalk. Created by three former Yahoo! employees, the GigWalk app pays you to walk (or drive) around your local town and complete small "gigs" to earn cash. Gigs include things like taking a picture of a restaurant street menu, mystery shopping trips, or completing a small survey about a local business. Expect to earn $2 to $15 per gig; generally the longer the gig takes, the more money you will make. You get paid via PayPal and those who get high ratings from clients gain access to higher-paying gigs.
GigWalk uses your smartphone's GPS location info to help you find nearby gigs, so if you are out shopping anyways, why not make some extra cash? The app is currently available in eight major markets: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle. (Available on iPhone and Android)
These five apps will take some time to set up and get familiar with. However, once you get past the introductory stage, they have the potential to put a little extra cash in your wallet each month. At the very least, they can help offset your monthly cell phone bill. Who wouldn't want that?

Swagbucks

Does it actually work?

Yes – it really does!
In the last year, I have earned over $600 in gift cards by using Swagbucks. I was able to purchase many books and kitchen items that we needed with the Amazon.ca gift cards that I redeemed my bucks for.

How do I sign up?

If you’re interested in signing up to Swagbucks, visit the Swagbucks website and register. You will earn 30 free Swag Bucks just for signing up.
Please note that you are only allowed to have one account per individual (not per household).

How do I earn Swag Bucks?

There are actually many ways that you can earn Swag Bucks other than just using the search engine.
I don’t recommend trying to do all 15 of these things because it will probably be overwhelming and take up an incredible amount of time, but these are all ways to earn Swag Bucks that I feel are worth mentioning.

1. Search the Web

The most popular way to earn Swag Bucks is to search the web. Just visit the Swagbucks homepage and every time you search for something using their search engine, you will have the chance to earn Swag Bucks.
You will only earn bucks periodically as you search, so don’t try searching for things over and over again – it won’t work.

2. Watch Videos

Find some great content that you are interested in, and fill your Swag Bucks meter as you watch. Once the meter is full, you’ll have a chance to win Swag Bucks.
All you have to do is watch videos that interest you and at the end of each video you can earn anywhere from 1-5 Swag Bucks. Keep in mind that you won’t win every time you watch a video.
I like to run these videos when I am doing something in the office, such as cleaning or organizing paperwork. That way I am nearby to click to the next video. I don’t do this very often, but when I do, I usually earn about 4 Swag Bucks for every “winning” video.

3. Play Games

If you enjoy computer games, check out the free ones offered by Swagbucks and you can earn 1-5 bonus Swag Bucks just for playing.
If you want to play against other Swagbucks members, you can buy into a tournament (these are limited time or limited player tournaments) and have a chance to win as much as 2000 Swag Bucks or more.
I haven’t had much luck with these games, but I know a few people that claim to earn quite a few Swag Bucks by playing games a few times per day.

4. Take Surveys

Visit the “Trusted Survey” dashboard every day for great survey opportunities. When you give your opinion, you will be awarded with Swag Bucks.
You will only earn Swag Bucks when you qualify and I have found that I don’t qualify for many. However, it may be worth your time to check and see if you do qualify.

5. Complete Time Sensitive Offers

There are some offers that you can complete to earn bonus Swag Bucks, and many of them don’t require payment of any kind.
You can earn quite a few Swag Bucks by completing these offers, but be sure to only complete the ones you are sincerely interested in to avoid spam mail.

6. View No Obligation Special Offers

Visit the “NOSO” page to view special offers with no obligation necessary to earn Swag Bucks. You can look at all of the offers and not even sign up to one of them and earn 2 Swag Bucks per day.
However, if there is an offer that interests you, be sure to sign up for it to earn even more bonusSwag Bucks.

7. Recycle Products

Swagbucks has a recycling program where you can earn Swag Bucks for handing over your old cell phone, books and gaming systems.
All you have to do is look up the product that you’d like to trade in, print the pre-paid label and trade-in receipt, stick the package in the mail and collect your Swag Bucks (once your item has been received and processed).
Personally, I don’t think the bucks that you get for these items is very much, but if these are items that are just sitting around your home collecting dust, it may be worth it for you to trade them for some Swag Bucks.

8. Answer Polls

There is a new poll every day on the Swagbucks website. Every time you vote in the current daily poll, you will earn 1 bonus Swag Buck.
This is such a simple way to earn around 30 Swag Bucks every month. It only takes a few seconds to do. It is usually the first thing I do in the morning when I log on to the computer.

9. Referrals

Once you see how easy it is to earn great prizes through Swagbucks, you will want to tell all of your friends so that they can start earning prizes too.
Make sure you get them to sign up through your referral link so that you can earn points for referring them. Swagbucks will match your referral’s points – up to 1,000. This means that if your friend earns 50 Swag Bucks one day, you do too.

10. Perform Tasks

When you do small “tasks” on the Swag Bucks website, you will be rewarded with bonus Swag Bucks. Small tasks include things such as testing online discounts and promotions, finding biographical information for celebrity actors, finding great things to do in a particular city, etc.

11. Use the Toolbar

Be sure to install the Swagbucks toolbar on your browser so that you can search for things on the web easily.
You can type all your searches into the toolbar instead of having to click on the homepage to do so. You are also awarded 1 bonus Swag Buck every a day, just for using the toolbar.

12. Follow Swagbucks on Facebook

Swagbucks will often post special codes and offers for their Facebook fans, so it’s a good idea to “Like” them on Facebook.
Check their page every day or so to see if there are any new promotions or special Swag Codes available.

13. Follow Swagbucks on Twitter

Just like on Facebook, Swag Bucks rewards their Twitter followers will special offers and codes, so be sure to add them to your list.

14. Read the Swagbucks Blog

The blog is always updated with news and offers and is a great place for you to find special promotions.
Occasionally, Swagbucks will pick a random follower and reward them with FREE Swag Buckd! Look for blog posts from “The Swag Guy” (TSG) or “The Swag Girl” (TSGal) to find exclusive Swag Buck opportunities.

15. Make a Search Your Homepage

Most people say to make Swagbucks.com your homepage, but I have a much better tip for you.
  • Go to Swagbucks.com
  • Search for something you search for a lot (maybe MrsJanuary.com?)
  • When the search results come up, make the search results page your homepage
  • Now, every time you click the HOMEPAGE button (the little house) in your browser, you will end up at that search page
This means that every time you go to your homepage you will have a chance to win bucks – and you didn’t even have to manually search for anything.
After referrals, this is how I get the bulk of my Swag Bucks.
Swag Bucks is one of my favourite “money” making programs and I recommend it 100% to anyone who spends time online.
For very little effort you can enjoy free gift cards and other prizes for doing something as simple as surfing the web.

New Referral Earning Opportunity!

EXTENDED THROUGH THE END OF MAY!
For each new person you refer to Swagbucks that creates an account – you will earn 10% of the Swag Bucks that they earn! Not just in search wins but in almost every earning opportunity! Here’s the best part – you’ll continue earning 10% of their earnings FOR LIFE!
What are qualified earnings? – Any earnings found along the top menu bar: ShopSearchWatchPlayAnswer,Discover.  This includes everything found in the drop down menus such as Daily Poll, Activities, Coupons and Tasks.  But that is not all – every earn on a mobile app contributes too.
And did we mention you will never max out?  That’s right! You will continue to earn 10% for as long as your referral is active on Swagbucks!
Here is an example:
You invite Jane today, she signs up and earns 14 SBs in Search, 9 SBs in SBTV, 6 SBs by playing games, 1 SB for the Daily Poll, 2 SBs for NOSO, 8 SBs from Encrave Activities and 60 SBs for a survey.  Jane’s daily earnings = 100 SBs.  Your referral earnings from her activity = 10 SBs!
Imagine Jane earns 100 SBs each day for a month.  Jane has 3,000 SBs and you have 300 SBs.  Now imagine if you had 10 Janes, each earning 100 SBs each day for a month…
You can see how this could really add up!  and keep adding and adding and adding…  Your account will be credited the same day as the earning takes place.
Now for just a small bit of fine print: Exceptions: Swag Codes, Daily Goal Bonuses, SB Visa awards, Accelerator awards are not eligible for referral Swag Bucks (others may be added).  This program applies only to NEW referrals who have registered between 1/21/14 and 5/31/14.
Go here to get started inviting your friends and family to Swagbucks.  To make it even more enticing for your referrals have them enter the sign up code “FreeGiftCards” and they will start with 50 extra SBs.  (reminder: this bonus will not contribute to your 10% earning but will get your referral closer to their first gift card)

14 Ways to Make Free Internet Phone Calls

Yes, you really can make free phone calls using the Internet! Free internet phone programs let you make free phone calls, sometimes only to the US and Canada, using special software.
The free phone call applications I list below are available in four different forms:
  • PC to phone programs are ones that can make a free call from your computer to a real telephone number so you don't even need a telephone yourself.
  • App to phone software are ones that make free Internet calls from a mobile device to a real number. These services support making phone calls to any number, even landlines and mobile phones that aren't using the app.
  • PC to PC Internet calling is when a computer makes a free phone call to another computer.
  • App to app services run entirely on mobile devices and results in phone calls that can only work if the recipient has the same application installed. This method can not be used to call landlines or other mobile phones that don't have the proper software.
No matter how it works, it's a free call!

1. Google Voice

Google Voice is the very best way to make free Internet phone calls. With Google Voice, you can make free calls to an actual phone number, PC to PC calls, and free PC to phone calls.
Google Voice is much more than a way to make free phone calls on the Internet. Google Voice is primarily a way to manage the phone numbers in your life and can be used to intelligently route incoming calls to your free phone number provided by Google Voice to any other phone you have. With Google Voice, you can also get free SMS, make a free conference call, and get free voice mail services.
Free calls you make with Google Voice must be to numbers in the United States or Canada.
Google Voice is available as a mobile app (as pictured here) that works with Android, BlackBerry, and iOS users, as well as a web app that works with other mobile devices.
Free phone calls with Google Voice are limited to three hours. However, you can continue to make a free call to the same number over and over again.

magicJack users also get free voicemail.
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users can use this app in addition to Android devices. There are no desktop programs available.

Because Skype works on both desktops and mobile devices, any variation of communication is allowed - PC to PC, app to PC, app to app, and PC to app.
To create contacts with Skype requires recipients to already have a Skype account. You can find a user in the public Skype directory by their email address or phone number. You can also add contacts directly if you know their username.

Just enter a few details like the country and number of the phone you wish to call. After a few additional steps you'll be ready to make a free Internet phone call.
There is a major limitation with GlobFone in that you can only call for a duration of just a few minutes before the connection drops. Also, there's a cap on the number of calls that can be made through one IP address within a 24 hour period.
